I live in Australia's Top End (about five minutes drive out of Darwin), and have been very interested in all kinds of hand crafts for as long as I can remember. I made mohair teddy bears for collectors for nine years and sold them all over the world. I love to make pretty things and love to use beautiful materials.
I adore fresh water pearls; they glow in the sunlight with a dancing rainbow of colours which always catches me by surprise. In different lights their colours change.
The pearls come to me strung on temporary strands, I pick through them, removing any that I feel are undesirable. After culling, I string onto silk or Power Pro knotting between each pearl. There has been much discussion about benefits of both, my opinion is that silk drapes beautifully and is pure luxury, it also comes in colours. Power Pro (a braided strong thread) is washable and extremely strong. If you wear your pearls every day or would be likely to perspire heavily onto them (like me, living in the tropics) then Power Pro may suit you, as you can hand wash your pearls when you take them off.
At each end of the necklace, next to the clasp I use a selection of tiny beads to suit the pearls, either sterling silver or gold filled and French wire (bullion or gimp) (to protect the silk, and add a nice finish) to match. Each strand of pearls will come with their own silk pouch for you to keep them when they are not being worn.
PAYMENT: My website is set up to take PayPal (International and Domestic purchases) or Direct Deposit (Domestic). If you wish to pay by cheque or Australian Postal Order, please use the direct deposit buton and email me. Goods will be posted after funds have cleared.
If you're in Australia and using Bank Deposit, fill out the form, it will generate an email to me and I will send you my account details. After the deposit shows up in my account, I will post your necklace usually by Airmail Letter Post, or by Express, depending on the postage charged. I will keep in touch by email to let you know what is happening.
If you buy two or more items at once the shopping cart will automatically choose the postage amount from whichever item has highest postage.
Returns will be processed once I receive the item back in original condition with all original packaging. The total amount refunded will be less all additional shipping charges I incurred while posting to you, and any restringing fees. Restringing fees vary depending upon the length of necklace.
I would be very please if you would record your buying experience or what you think of your new pearls on my feedback page.
Rolled gold and gold filled are the same thing. It is very durable; a layer of gold is pressed onto another metal, unlike gold plate which is extremely thin. It is much cheaper than solid gold. I have some solid gold beads, but they are so soft so I prefer not to use them.
The solid gold hook and eye clasps are 9 carat, and not polished. They look brushed.
I have sterling silver and fine silver. Fine silver has a higher silver content.
All metals used (beads, clasps, headpins etc) are sterling silver, fine silver or rolled gold with the exception of vermeil daisy spacers and vermeil enhancers. Vermeil is sterling silver plated with gold.
I can change earring hooks to lever backs if you prefer them. I have been testing the ergonomic hooks and find them BRILLIANT. Regular hooks seem to work their way out of my ears (humidity maybe), but the ergonomic hooks stay put. I even sleep in them (naughty naughty!).
I am happy to change earring hooks to clip/screw-ons, though they may not be sterling or gold filled. It depends on what I'm able to find.
